The Start of a New Decade!

2010 – here we are! Ten years ago we were trembling at the thought of Y2K which would bring an end to the world as we knew it. Then Sept 11th happened, followed by wars in Iraq & Afghanistan, tsunamis across the world, Hurricane Katrina’s ruthless devastation of New Orleans and the list seems to go on and on.

And oh the new technology we enjoy; the world became smaller and more immediate through our wireless internet connections and smart phones. Face Book put us in touch with extended family members and friends both old and new. Google became a verb and my new “go to” source for everything -  I don’t think I could live without it. And who hasn’t shared a hysterical “You Tube” video with friends and co-workers?

To say the first decade of the new millennium was uneventful would be a far cry from reality. So much has passed in these ten years, twists and turns both good and bad, there’s no way to predict what lies ahead.

We’re up for the challenge and eager to see what’s in store!
And we’re glad you’re on the ride with us. Cheers to the New Year, another chance to get it right, as Oprah would say. Best wishes for peace, love and laughter, today and always.
Cheers!

Snowmobilers, Irish Players & Sweet Get-aways

We were disappointed when the snow all but disappeared a few weeks back, after all it is winter in Chautauqua County, NY. Our fear was short-lived -- the snow is back with a vengeance! It started snowing about a week ago & has continued to snow everyday since. There were occasional bursts of sunshine during the last 6 days but they were brief & quickly replaced with voracious bouts of - what else? - more snow! The sun came out yesterday and this is what it looked like when the strong winds died down. Of course the snow picked up right where it left off & we're looking at 3 feet of snow - possibly close to 4 feet by the end of this weekend! The roads are clear, the snow is abundant & it's going to be a GREAT weekend for snowmobilers! Take advantage of our Snowmobile Special Packages: 1. Stay & Ride - Weekend Stay Friday, Saturday or Sunday & get the 2nd night at half price! 2. Stay & Ride - Weekday Stay 2 mid-week nights & the 3rd night's on us. Can't stay 3 nights? Stay 2 nights & get the 2nd night at half price! *** Present your Chautauqua Lake Snowmobile Club card & receive a 10% discount on all food purchases (alcoholic beverages not included) *** Sun, Feb 1st - The Irish are Coming! Beginning Feb 1st, and the 1st Sunday of every month thereafter, a group Irish players will sit in for a live jam session at the Blue Heron Inn. The group (with members from all corners of the region) will play from 1:00 – 3:00 pm so - plan to join us for some toe-tapping fun!
Fri & Sat, Feb 6th & 7th - Wine & Chocolate Weekend

Create your own itinnerary and you can visit the wineries of your choosing. Why not show that special someone how much they mean to you by melting their heart on a crisp winter’s day with fine wine and chocolate? Now that’s a perfect pairing! (limo ride will be offered if the package receives 8 participants; wine trail tickets good for sat & sun, feb 7 & 8, 2008).

Looks like a WHITE Thanksgiving!

We were the lucky recipients of approximately 15" of snow day before yesterday and today it is snowing in earnest once again. Lucky you ask? Heck, yes - with Peek 'n Peak Ski Resort & Spa around the corner snow is winter's saving grace! The slopes are slated to open in one week & already we hear the snow machines hard at work, supplementing nature's own wintry bounty. Next week is Thanksgiving and according to the weather reports it's going to be a white one.
